Research at ensnp is carried out on two complementary axes.

The first one concerns instructors-researchers and is carried out within UMR 6173 CITERES (Mixed research unit. CNRS-Université de Tours) on domains of research closely related to the subjects taught at ensnp.

The second one is aimed at the applications and implementation of the landscape project approach and, as such, it  enhances the work done in the landscape studios.
This double orientation reflects a desire to deal with landscape in an applied, finalised, fundamental research approach.

ENSNP is involved in Tours University's Geography Master's programme dealing with «Environmental and territorial research. ». This partnership allows students to move on to a scientific career after graduation, if they wish to.

ENSNP organises joint seminars at UMR CITERES, thus contributing to scientific exchange and to the development of ties with other schools (Tours University, Angers University, Angers INH).
In 2005, researchers and students of the Loire Area Workshop participated in a seminar « Contemporary landscapes : tools and methods od analysis».

Another seminar, in May 2006 dealt with the contributions of geomatics to the study of landscapes.
